Politics Shred

A short poem ....by yours truly....on the unworthy subject of politics....

The Great Debate shreds people like a Quill.
Thanks to you, my relationships have become ill.
Unrighteous and immoral are your ways,
Yet the things are assumed right, the things you say.
Why must we sit back and wait for one person to change the world
When the serious issue is the nonsense of false refferal.
It's not Obama's job to take charge of our lives,
And Mitt Romney is only interested in those paper tens and fives.
It's our responsibility to care for the poor,
To reach out until the poor needs no more.
If our hope would lie above instead of down here below,
Maybe our lives would become less and less shallow.
As you contemplate on your choice,
Understand the silence in your voice.
They say your vote counts,
When in reality the winner is always chosen with doubts.
No matter how many times you try,
The president is never good enough, or sadly he dies.
So take these words to heart and understand my pain,
When I make a reference to the poilitical rain.
It's acidic, it burns, it tears,
It yearns to find the center of your being and consume
What else is left, nothing but doom.
